Inductions Don’t Have To Be Scary

An induced labour doesn't need to be dreaded.

When I found out I had to be induced I was petrified. I had worked so hard my entire pregnancy to be fit and have my body ready. But sometimes no matter what we do, these decisions are out of our hands.

You seem to only hear horror stories of being induced and I am so happy to say that this is definitely not the case for everyone.

My induction was my most enjoyable labour (and I've had a few!). It was such a beautiful experience that I genuinely was able to enjoy. I was lucky to have the sweetest and most caring midwife's who didn't want to shock my baby so took it very slow with the drip. My baby had time to adjust and when we had to amp it up to move things along, she was ready and responded well.

I understand my story is only one of many. I just hope to help replace fear with knowledge that it doesn't mean you will have a more painful, complicated or long labour if you have to be induced. Mine certainly was the opposite. Gather your information with any situation you are faced with and go in with knowledge on your side, knowing all of your options.

My labour wasn't more painful.

It wasn't longer or complicated.

It was actually a beautiful experience that I was able to enjoy

My induction was necessary

But ended up being my most enjoyable labour

Birth with knowledge.

Birth with wisdom.

Birth confidently.
